In high school, a teacher told us this story, whose truthfulness resonates with me to this day. Perhaps you have heard it also.
A man dies and is given a tour of Heaven and Hell to see where he might choose to reside for eternity.
In Hell, multitudes are gathered around tables loaded with mountains of delicious-looking food. However, all the people have four-foot long forks strapped to the backs of their arms, above and below their elbows. Try as they might, they cannot bend their arms to feed themselves. People starve!
In Heaven, the scene is similar – people gathered around tables loaded with sumptuous food. Here also, their arms are strapped to long forks, and they cannot bend their arms. In Heaven, however, people use their forks … to feed each other!
The lesson here is for life … and business. Feed others so that you, yourself, can be fed, sustained, and grow.
What have you done for someone else today?
